I am a mathematician, not a photographer. As mathematicians we travel a lot to attend conferences and to visit colleagues. I love to take photos when I travel. The photos posted here are mostly such photos. After traveling to a place I like to post some photos that best describe what I see. I began taking photos ever since I bought my first digital camera in year 2000: a Canon Powershot G1. In 2002 my trusted G1 has given way to the 6 megapixel Canon EOS 10D.

I use mostly consumer type lenses. The more professional Canon USM L lenses are too expensive for an amateur like me. But I would like to have them once I can afford them (which means a big NASDAQ rebound). So far my primary lens is the Canon 28-135mm/3.5-5.6 IS lens. For wide angle shot I use the Canon EF 17-40mm/f4 L, which is perhaps the least expensive "L" lens. I also carry the ultra affordable Canon 50mm/f1.8. I find this lens to be very useful under low lighting.
